FUNDING SOURCES OVER TIME (2002-2007)

 The financial support obtained during the 2002-2007 period can be divided into two parts: institutional support and external funding. The institutional support includes: (1) per capita contribution from PhD holders and salaries of researchers hired by the Associate Laboratory, provided by the funding agency (FCT/MCTES); (2) fellowships for PhD students and Post-Docs, obtained mostly through competitive FCT/MCTES calls, but also from the EC Marie Curie Programme. The salaries of staff provided by the university and maintenance of buildings and the depreciation of facilities, although significant, are not included here. 
Funding from external sources was mainly obtained through projects submitted to competitive calls, at national and international level.
