Protein Crystallography

Course Description:
Fundamentals of X-ray Crystallography. Theory and hands-on protein crystallization. The basic steps from diffraction data to 3D structure. Validation and quality control of crystal structures. Pros and cons over other structural biology techniques. Analysis and comparison of protein structures. Structural databases.
Course Format: Intensive five days classes integrating lecture (morning) and laboratory sessions (afternoon) that will include hands-on training on various instruments and applications.
Instructors: Lecturers from the Protein Crystallography Group from the Chemistry Department of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and the Associated Laboratory REQUIMTE.

Fee: € 250, for early registration until January 1st, 2010 (after this date, the registration fee will be €350)
Application: There are no formal academic requirements for this course: all applicants are welcome if they have the necessary background to understand the course material.
