Graduated in Dentistry, Federal University of Ceará (1997), master's (2001) and doctorate (2005) in Biochemistry at the Federal University of Ceará. Associate Professor, Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine (Immunology Sector) - Federal University of Ceará, Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2013-2017), Researcher INCT Nanobiosimes Project (CNPq). Currently in post-doctoral stage at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa - Glycoimmunology Group (2015-2016).

Lectins are non-immunoglobulin proteins possessing at least one non-catalytic domain that binds reversibly to specific carbohydrates. In this seminar Edson Teixeira will present some biological activities of lectins isolated from plants and marine organisms results of researchs developed in Integrated Laboratory of Biomolecules (UFC- Fortaleza-Brasil) and in collaboration with the Glycoimmunology Group (DCV/FCT).
