Research Interests
The works I have developed seek to identify and characterize molecules as markers of risk in humans. Markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, as well as, others related with cardiovascular risk, such as adipokines, lipid and insulin resistance parameters has been studied using different physiological models, including inflammatory conditions, such as psoriasis, obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
My more recent research activity is mainly focused in the study of the biology of erythropoiesis and the erythropoietic disturbances by using different models associated with erythropoietic disturbances (e.g. obesity, anemia of chronic disease).
