The 1st Meeting of GLYCONanoPROBES COST Action CA18132 – “Functional Glyconanomaterials for the Development of Diagnostics and Targeted Therapeutic Probes” took place from 18 to 20 November 2019 at FCT NOVA. This meeting was organized by Filipa Marcelo, independent researcher at (Bio)Molecular Structure & Interactions by NMR lab at UCIBIO - FCT NOVA, who is a member of the Management Committee and was elected Grant Holder scientific representative of this COST action during the kick-off meeting that took place in Brussels, Belgium in March 2019.
The COST Action CA18132 – “Functional Glyconanomaterials for the Development of Diagnostics and Targeted Therapeutic Probes” started in May 2019 and will run until April 2023, and aims to bring together experts in glycoscience from all around Europe to develop the next generation of functional glyconanomaterials for the development of diagnostic tools and targeted therapeutics.
Ana Diniz, PhD student at (Bio)Molecular Structure & Interactions by NMR lab, was awarded the prize for best poster presentation with the research work “The exquisite mechanism of binding of human macrophage galactose-type lectin” (authors: A. Diniz, H. Coelho, J. S. Dias, S. J. van Vliet, J. Jiménez-Barbero, F. Corzana, E. J. Cabrita, and F. Marcelo).
