Ana Pina, researcher at the Biomolecular Engineering Lab, is one of the recipients of the Research Fund Awards from Royal Society of Chemistry's Research Fund. This award will provide to Ana Pina an exciting opportunity to study functional collagen mimetic peptides.
On receiving the award, Ana Pina said: “This award will allow me to understand the potential of novel peptide sequences in replicating the self-assembly mechanism of the natural collagen and form hydrogels. These hydrogels will then serve as an inspiration to create supramolecular enzyme-like functional peptides, providing solutions to biotechnological problems and promising approaches for nanomedicine and biomaterials.”
The Royal Society of Chemistry awards grants of up to £4000 to enable high quality research of funding with the aim of supporting those undertaking their own research as early career researchers.
